I’m feeling a little virtuous this afternoon. I fixed the dishwasher.
I’ll be honest. It has taken me about 6 weeks, maybe 8, since I was first informed of its malfunctioning to get the repair done. But researching things online takes time.
And if you stack my $42.56 in parts up against the Maytag Man’s parts + initial visit charge of $88.00 (for every 19mins) + return charge (another $88.00 for every 19mins) for installation of new parts, I’m well ahead in terms of dollars and cents. And way further than the $600+ it would cost to replace it.
While we’ll never get those 8 weeks of dirty dishes in the top rack back, we’ll all feel better knowing that there is one less dishwasher in the landfill and that YouTube can teach you how to do a lot of things that you didn’t know how to do before.
I recommend the Ontario Appliance Parts Store (http://www.reliableparts.ca/locations/ON), with locations throughout Ontario, without hesitation and thank them kindly for their help and useful diagrams. And for putting up with my crying infant and very curious 2 year old while I was trying to explain what was wrong with the machine.
