//www.youtube.com/get_playerThere are so many reasons why I shot this video.
For starters, Charlotte was home sick from school. This rarely happens. She isn't really one to want to stay home but on Monday, she was pretty ill with a high fever. And while there are a lot of conditions i don't mind sending her to school with, a fever isn't one of them. No fun for her and not fair to her classmates. Anyway, there is no doubting that she was sick – she feel asleep in the middle of the day and Charlotte hasn't done that with any regularity since she was three. She needed the rest.
So after picking ruby up from school and reading a bunch of stories, they both had naps. These days, ruby and naps can be a dangerous combination. She has to be up by 3pm or else she is up until 9pm in the evening. And that isn't fun for anyone. When i went into their room to wake them up from the nap i opened the blind and the spring sunshine was pouring in the window. I don't know how well it turns up in the video, but Charlotte's hair just looked so incredibly gorgeous to me. All those different reds in there. Such a dark and rich colour. It was mesmerizing. And when you add the splash of freckles across her nose and cheeks – she was just about the most adorable thing I'd seen all day.
And then there is the snoring. I'm pretty sure that she won't be too pleased with me some years down the road when she looks back at her five year old self asleep and snoring on a Monday afternoon home sick from school. Then again, I'm pretty sure i will get some mileage out of this video at some point in the future and that, no matter when I look at it, I will think about how awesome she is – for so many reasons.
