This is my sister Cate holding her niece. About one out of every three Friday nights, my sister will drop by after work to hang out, have dinner with the kids, and help us ease into the weekend. It is pretty awesome and my kids absolutely love it. And I am a pretty big fan of the experience myself.
For starters, it is nice to see my sister and have the chance to hang out with her once in a while. Then there is the fact that she helps to put the kids to bed. And let me tell you something: having a 1 to 1 ratio of adults to kids for that process is infinitely better than being out numbered. I also enjoy her visits because it is fun to watch my kids interact with her and then be able to get her take on them afterwards. Cate is insightful. But in a bigger picture sense, I think that it is awesome that they have her as a role model in their lives. I hope it always stays that way.
