Slimed on streetcar Tuesday

One of the nice developments in our streetcar Tuesday routine is that, other than the ocassional shoulder ride, Ruby no longer needs much support on our little adventures. She can climb the steps of the street car and ride the escaloators in the station all on her own. She can make her way amongst the crowds – when it isn’t too busy – and she knows to stand back from the edge of the platform when the train is coming into the station. Mostly, all she really needs is a hand to hold – and I’m the lucky guy with the hand.

Today, as we started down the street and Ruby grabbed my hand, I wondered to myself why it was that her glove was wet. Knowing Ruby, I figured that there could be any number of explanations and decided that the best course of action was to just keep walking and it wasn’t a big deal. Then she sneezed, so I stoped to wipe her nose with a tissue. As I was fumbling around in my pocket for the tissue, I noticed her arm begin to move towards her face. That’s when I saw the tell tale glisten. Her glove wasn’t wet at all. It was snotty.
