Had an awesome time skating at a birthday party today. Charlotte, as fiercely independent as ever, wouldn't even let me hold her hand as she ever so slowly made her way around the rink. And she wasn't too keen on listening to any instructions from me either. Of course, I wonder about when the right time is to interject with some helpful pointers on how to improve her skating versus how much I should leave her alone and let her either figure things out for herself or decide she is ready to ask for help… As it turns out, when I stopped trying to help her “improve” and just patiently kept pace with her, she was more than willing to have me as company as the rest of the rink buzzed by us. Maybe I got the skating lesson today.
p.s. if you are looking at the picture and thinking to yourself “where is drew’s helmet?” don’t worry, Charlotte has already given me some serious grief for that and I promise to wear one next time.
