At 4:12pm today, I didn’t know what to do with myself

I dropped Charlotte and ruby at Roy Thompson Hall with my parents and their cousin, Anna, around 4pm today. They were headed inside to see Raffi. Later, maybe I will write something about the amazingness of his musical career – having written songs 30 years ago that are as popular now as they ever were – he played 2 sold out shows today and I'm sure this isn't his only stop on the Christmas tour.

Anyway – Hil had Arden and I had 90 minutes to myself downtown. And I had no idea what I was going to do with myself. It's a lot of time for me to have on my hands. I don't want to sound like a martyr. I certainly don't spend every minute without the children on task oriented stuff. For example, I'm slowly making my way through the fifth season of Weeds. And that was preceded by the occasional afternoon spent making my way through the fourth season of Weeds. The episodes are only 25mins long – almost like they were made for the stay at home parent mid afternoon break. Anyway. I did a little Christmas shopping. A little window shopping. And a little personal shopping. And now I'm back at the prearranged meeting spot, early but without enough time to do anything else, and looking forward to the trip home on the subway. Baby Beluga for about 9 stops and a streetcar ride!
