Mostly happy wanderer

Arden is increasingly mobile these days. In fact, just this weekend, as I saw her sitting at the bottom of a step I noticed her making her very first attempts at raising herself off the ground in an effort to standup. I am very excited to watch this process unfold. I am also a little terrified at the changes it will no doubt bring. She manages to find her way into a lot of mischief right now as it is, and I can only imagine that this will increase as she gains more confidence on her feet.

Right before I took this picture, I had just removed arden's index finger from the hole in the center of this drain. She had pushed her finger so far down into the drain that she couldn't get it out on her own. She was crying. Probably a little bit scared. Did that deter her from going right back to the same spot? Not at all. She stuck the same finger back into the same hole. Of course, I make this same mistake all the time. Not so much with sticking my fingers into floor drains, but repeating the same action somehow expecting different results. And I have been fortunate to be the beneficiary of my share of bail outs over the years. I guess the process of trial and error is an innately human quality.
