What is going on inside her mind when she sees this?

Today, with the teachers on strike, I packed the standard pb & j sandwiches and headed to the zoo. It is one of our families preferred destinations and we have received incredible value from our membership and parking pass. Arden has been dragged along on many previous trips and she is always a trooper while we are there – never showing signs of fatigue or complaining because she can’t always get a good look. She is patient and she keeps up – perhaps traits she has developed out of necessity as the third… Regardless – today she got to see more than on any of her previous visits. The combination. Of her being able to stand up and ruby not needing quite as much support from me to see things meant that Arden could really start to have an experience more on her own terms. In this picture, we are in the African rainforest pavilion taking a good look at a huge aquarium. Aside from the ring tailed lemurs, this aquarium is probably my favorite thing to see at the zoo – for whatever reason, I find it incredibly peaceful. She was quite vocal while she was standing here looking at the fish and made all kinds of sounds that were clear expressions of delight. She was pointing at things and tapping the glass with her hands. I think she would have gladly stayed in that spot for quite a while longer if her older sisters hadn’t started showing signs of needing to move on. It is so amazing to watch Arden experience the world.
