Here is what happened last week

Had broccoli soup for dinner on Tuesday night. Arden really enjoyed it. And if you are wondering how she got it in her hair…

This is how she got it in her hair!

On Wednesday night, thanks to my friend and neighbour, Pete Kesper, I had the good fortune to attend a Canadian Music Week showcase: Outlaws and Gunslingers. Pete’s band, NQ Arbuckle, rocked! Man oh man is it ever awesome listening to live music that doesn’t come from the sound of your 6 year old howling through a cast off recorder, your 3 year old wheezing into a slimy harmonica, and your 18 month old banging on whatever is in arm’s reach.

Arden had her hair done by a caregiver at school on Friday. She is so active when she is at school that it was hard to get a picture of her. It was amazing how much the little pony tail changed her whole look and made it seem as though she really belonged at the nursery school. September is just around the corner.

Friday afternoon’s entertainment were the two guys who came to install a new water meter in our house. Ruby was pretty captivated with them. And they with her it would seem – they didn’t seem to mind answering all her questions or having an audience.

It’s hard to make out in the picture but, what I hope were the last snow flakes of the winter to fall were pretty awesome looking in Arden’s hair on Friday afternoon. This picture hardly does the experience justice. Way too out of focus. I post it more selfishly so that I will remember this image in my mind’s eye.

Here’s a first. This past weekend, Charlotte and Ruby went for a sleepover at my brother’s place to hang out with their cousins, Anna and Ben. Here’s to hoping it is the first of many exchanges. Hil and I ordered in from the new Mexican place down the street and enjoyed the first two episodes of House of Cards. Not entirely glamourous – but just the right speed considering we still had Arden at home. We also went for two walks together. One Saturday evening and one Sunday morning in the sunshine. Awesome. We are on deck for next month. Cue up Mary Poppins.
