It is not uncommon for either of the adults who live in our home to find themselves wandering the premises searching for tape. Often, in these circumstances, any tape will do – whatever we are lucky enough to find – masking, electrical, packing, even the sticky stuff you find on the outside of lint brushes. Tape is a hard thing to come by around here. Mostly because our children have all the roles of the stuff squirreled away for their own purposes.
Take the exhibit above as an example. Charlotte is playing with my “heart blanket”. This is the blanked that ET brought me when I was very young. I remember seeing the movie in the theater and coming home to find this gift from a tiny alien. Or at least that is the story I’ve told myself. Recently, this relic was unearthed and Charlotte quickly laid claim to it. Why she thought this old and tattered blanket would make a good window covering, I have no idea. What is important to note is that she had no trouble finding the tape she needed to do the job.
