Ruby sleeps on the top bunk. When I built the bunk bed, I included a little shelf on the top bunk to give the top bunk kid a little extra storage space and almost as soon as Charlotte started sleeping up there, this shelf became a depot for all manner of things. Stuff just collected up there. Colouring books. Doll clothes. Socks. Crafts. And every once in a while hil would go up there and scoop up the stuff and give the kid on the top bunk a clean shelf and a fresh start.
Ruby sleeps on the top bunk now and she uses the shelf in the same way. Almost. She seems to have figured out that a good out of the way storage place also makes a decent hiding spot. Which brings us to this week and the tin of curly hair that Hil found up there. 5 or 6 distinct locks of the stuff that had been deliberately and covertly removed. Ruby’s hair is a wild scene at just about any given moment – which is the reason I am giving for neither of her parents noticing the missing hair on Ruby’s head. I wonder when she cut it?
