Determined cub

Charlotte loves being a cub. As in a scout. We joined scouts together two years ago. Thursday nights we leave the house at 6:30 and head to the barn to grab some sports equipment. On the ride there we either chat with one another or she gets to pick the radio station and we turn up the music loud. It's a fun ride. A perfect way to transition out of the craziness of a full work day and family dinner and into the craziness of 24 eight to eleven year olds.

Last year her kub kar made it all the way to the regional tournament. She was thrilled. Her design was a wedge of watermellon. This year she was going to do a block of cheese. Then an ice cream sandwich. Then a block of cheese. Then just a block that was splatter painted. Then we got to the Kub Kar shop and she did none of those things. Just drew on some cut lines, got down to business at the scroll saw, sanded it for a few minutes and started painting. She is a no regrets kind of kid. Just follows her impulse and lives in the moment. I admire her for it.
