Which is better?

So it's the first real snow of the season around here. Up till now, we've had a few flakes. But now we have actual coverage. It is only October 27 – so it won't last – but it's a nice intro and the kids are super excited.

I'm sitting inside while they are out playing. They want me to take them to a nearby hill that they like. I told them they could go on their own. Which they can. They are a fully capable unit. There aren't any significant roads to cross that they haven't crossed before. It's a no brainer – they just have to find the will to go on their own. They are resisting.
Lately I've been reading about attachment and unsupervised play. Separately. Although they are connected I'm sure. If they go to the good hill on their own then there are benefits they can't get if I am there. Such as solving problems without an adult. Developing a sense of independence. Learning how to mAke and follow their own rules. Lots of good stuff. And if I go with them it counts as quality family time together. And we have fun and build attachment and feel good together. So which is better. All I know is that I can't leave the halloween fries (ruby and Arden are sweet potato adverse) alone in the oven so this time I have decided that if they want to go to the hill they have to go on their own.
