Agawa Bay Pictographs

These images are estimated to be between 150 and 400 years old. They are at the bottom of an enormous cliff and at the very edge of Lake Superior. I totally understand how people have died here. Nonetheless – Lake Superior was with us this morning and she made it possible for us to get an excellent look at these images. And we are grateful she did – we had plenty of interesting conversation about how the images got there in the first place, how they’ve lasted there for so long, why these are called pictographs and not frescos (we don’t have a good answer) and the big one: what do they mean?!?
