Today we didn’t do much. We managed a brief hike but there was a steady drizzle coming down by 1030am. The Gorgeous green hills of the Shuswap were completely enshrouded by clouds for most of the day.

The picture below captures most of the action.

You can just see Charlotte’s knees in the lower right hand corner of the frame. Arden is away in the background on her iPad. Hil is watching Nadal win the Rogers Cup. Way to go Bianca!!!
It rained all day in Salmon Arm. I crept through the streets searching for a thrift shop or a book store to pass some time in – but, refreshingly, it seems that most of the stores close here on Sundays. I can remember sitting in my grandparents den discussing Sunday shopping with my Nana.
One of the things that you come to expect while travelling is a steady stream of new and exciting. Today was a good reminder that a steady stream of new and exciting isn’t realistic. As it turns out, the five of us were all quite spent after a week with our extended family on Vancouver Island and we were ready for a day of rest and doing not much of anything at all. Also – I suspect that all of us are feeling just a little bit sad about pointing the car east, leaving Vancouver Island, and saying goodbye to family members new and old who we all love so much.
The packed roof box.

Boarding the ferry to the mainland.

Vancouver Island from the stern.

Kudos to Arden for going swimming twice today in the rain.
