Not really. Just bug bite eye.
It’s 10pm in Thunder Bay and no one is sleeping
Day 2 and we covered a lot of ground. Fancy cold breakfast, including the “one of the best cups of coffee” Hil has ever had. Pictographs. An impromptu visit to the beach at Terrace Bay Lots of scenic views of Lake Superior in all its majesty. Superior is a fitting name. A very stirring visit…… Continue reading It’s 10pm in Thunder Bay and no one is sleeping
Agawa Bay Pictographs
These images are estimated to be between 150 and 400 years old. They are at the bottom of an enormous cliff and at the very edge of Lake Superior. I totally understand how people have died here. Nonetheless – Lake Superior was with us this morning and she made it possible for us to get…… Continue reading Agawa Bay Pictographs
Day 1 recap
An excellent first day on the road – by all accounts. Well behaved children. Smooth roads. Good music in the car. And a spectacular finish at Lake Superior Provincial Park. A few reflections from the day. First – on my friend Craig. As we traveled through small towns, marvelled at rock formations, wondered about what…… Continue reading Day 1 recap
Here we go!
We are headed out on another family adventure. The van is loaded with camping equipment, snacks, maps, clothing, more snacks, and a few surprises for the kids. Destination: Vancouver island. Hoping for lots of good stories along the way.

The Sunday night wigglies are for sure a real thing in this family – and the last night of winter…… Continue reading Thrill seekers
Hil Smith
This is Hil. This picture of Hil was taken on the same day as the solar eclipse. August sometime. We had left Ottawa earlier that morning after a last minute summer road trip to satisfy the ever hungry adventure seeker that lives in both of us. It is a very memorable day for me. I…… Continue reading Hil Smith
For several weeks now, I have held on to this broken and empty plastic container. The container used to hold dental floss. In fact, it held a lot of dental floss. Enough for me to floss my teeth every day that we traveled for 6 months around the world, including the occasional time that I…… Continue reading
French Open Tennis (6 months ago)
It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 6 months since we were in Paris – wow, that time flew by. Sometimes I have to think hard, “did the trip really happen?” Of course it did as I see everyday the lasting impact of traveling as a family. There were tons of experiences we had that…… Continue reading French Open Tennis (6 months ago)
