Bat cave

Fascinating trip last night to watch 2,000,000 bats fly out of a cave. They just kept coming and coming and coming. We looked up until our necks ached and it was too dark to see the bats any longer. Even then Charlotte assured me that they were still pouring out of the cave and I was just too old And my eyes were too bad to see them.

As chance would have it – at the same site there was also a monument to Cambodians killed during the reign of the Khmer Rouge and a chance to walk down into the cave where killing took place. It was incredibly graphic and Ruby came home pretty unsettled. It provoked a pretty interesting discussion about extremism. Polpot, Hitler and Trump were discussed on the way down the hill.

On a lighter note, beers and bats go well together.
