On Caves in Phong Nha National Park, Vietnam – by Arden, Charlotte, Drew and Ruby

Steep switchbacks lead us to new depths

Ancient hills, peaceful river, lucky water

Drops dropping on the water and on our heads

We’ll never forget that day.

Step after speechless step we

And acclimatize.

Cool air, stillness.

We leave daylight behind as fascination dawns, grows and expands.

Paradise cave fills with our awe. We learned something new today!
Stalagmites: M for mound they grow from the ground. Stalactites: T from the top. Lucky drops

Full of minerals

Drip down on them.

10 years to grow one sleepy slow asymmetrical centimetre.

Grey but also blue

Wonderous green

Sleepy pink

Exciting purple

Happy pointy smooth conical jagged sublime cylindrical rocks hidden in caverns.

We saw bright patterns, alien forms, octopus hanging from the ceiling, Nagini slathering, Voldemort’s noseless face, rainbows over the moon, a lion’s fluffy mane, peace everywhere, houses for people seeking shelter from war, Batman, a forest full of love laughter and joy, bumpy icicles, daylight at the end and mist soaked hills beyond.

After dinner we feel
Happy and excited
We remember colours

We remember our desire to leave the path

Climb the rocks

Explore new heights in search of lost treasure from long ago as good fortune stretches out before us.

Happy half birthday, Arden (and Grandpa)!
