Lan Ha Bay day

Awesome day cruise on Lan Ha Bay with our new friends Tim and Jane (who I can’t believe I forgot to take a picture of!)

The biggest fishing village in Vietnam with 1000 people from 300 families growing sharks, grouper, and a bunch of other stuff.

Cruising through the Karst formations. It was supposed to be a sunny day but they looked spectacular in the low clouds all the same.

Our swim before lunch. This was the girls’ First jump into the ocean for the day. The drop was about 4m. The echo was memorable!

After lunch we were in the kayaks to explore some natural tunnels under the hills and enjoy a few lagoons.

Highlight of the day was seeing 5 monkeys and 1 Languar in one of the lagoons.  There are only about 80 Languars left in the world and they only live here in Cat Ba National Park according to our guide and the tour operator, seeing one is rare so we can consider ourselves quite lucky!

A special word of thanks to Jane and Tim for humouring the many gymnastics and dance routines, joining in the games, and teaching Charlotte about Archimedes.

  1. Wow!! Those are big jumps into the water. We’ll look for a good jumping spot at the cottage next summer to keep you challenged. And you’re doing axlot of kayaking too. We’ll update the cottage kayak levels.

Did you eat any of the fish from that area?

    Keep on having fun

    Love Grandpa
