“Ketchup” post by Hil

It’s a catch up day…school work, travel planning and catching up on the blog. Travel is busy and hard to fit in time (and find a good wifi connection) to update the blog. Oh first world problems….

This is my view right now. We’re sitting by the beach in Ko Lanta trying to get some school work done. You would think multiplication tables would be easier in these sunny conditions but alas, they are still challenging.

Before we got to Ko Lanta, we had an amazing 4 days in Chiangmai. I think it might be one of my favourite places we’ve visited – a little on the touristy side but still lots of fun. We enjoyed a day trip to the National Park where we saw lots of Wats and wildlife.

So much fun to have Aunt Cate and Uncle Boots with us too! Makes the van rides more fun!

Here are two pagodas dedicated to a former King and Queen. The gardens were lush and amazingly kept with visas worth the trip! While it was busy, there was lots of space to explore and we spent some time sitting and enjoying the landscape while Uncle Boots taught us what he know about Buddism.

It is fun to site-see with the Monks. They like the escalator as well!

We did some hiking in the forest – interesting similarities to home in the landscape and vegetation – but also lots of differences too! We found this little temple in the forest with offerings (people leave food, water, money to provide for their ancestors in the afterlife). All we had to offer was some Tic Tacs – and Ruby swept the alter of all the leaves. Hope we still earned some good karma!

We followed the boardwalk through the forest….

And made our way to the top!

Strike a pose! We often make fun of some other tourists doing their “glamour shots” so we thought we would do the same. I yelled out “strike a pose” and this is what they did – pretty impressive!

The waterfall was a highlight as well – there was a lovely mist coming off the falls and we enjoyed the view.

And now back to Ko Lanta, more on that later – but here are some shots from the pool this morning.

Happy Tuesday from Paradise!
