Easter in the Cameron Highlands (better late than never) by Hil

The Easter Bunny managed to find the gingersnaps all the way up in the Cameron Highlands in Malaysia. So the hunt was on!

Kindereggs are just a little bit different here – and very yummy!

How did the Easter Bunny know that we needed some hair clips?

We’re organized for the Mossy Forest tour so our driver picked us up in this cool ride:

Our driver was a super cool dude who worked as a guide on the weekends (he loves nature) but his full time job is an accountant. He also told me he has a motor bike repair business on the side (oh, and by the way, he is an expert in all things iPhone, also a side business). Typical for most Malaysians we met – very hard working with lots of balls in the air!

And the Highlands did not disappoint!

This pictures shows the 2 provinces that our hike would take us through – at some points we were in Pahang and then crossed over to Perak – all on a 1/2 hour boardwalk through the forest.

The views were amazing! We then carried onto the BOH tea plantation for a tour and LOTS of photos.

It was the BEST tasting cup of tea – could be the surroundings? Look at that view!

Drew sampled a sardine filled pastry- thumbs up! Charlotte loved it too!

What a day! We were missing home knowing that families were gathering to celebrate Easter – but this was an Easter we will never forget. I had visited this area almost 20 years ago and the image of the tea plantation always stuck with me – gorgeous, green fields up the side of the mountains – and while some of the road conditions have improved (although the traffic has gotten very heavy), the memory did not disappoint. We loved the Cameron Highlands!

Happy Easter everyone!

  4. I would strongly recommend you guys to check out the Southern Ridges (starting at Kent Ridge to Mt Faber Park). And probably taking the cable car from Mt Faber Park to Sentosa as well. It should be fun.
