Tivoli

We know, we know. You hate radio silence from the Gingersnaps but the wifi in Sri Lanka was touch and go. We had an amazing time there and will update the blog with lots of stories and posts but just a quick update on where we are not. Copenhagen baby!!! Originally we planned to visit Copenhagen for a visit to our wonderful friends Iain and Alisen – and their kids Molly and Gillian – but between the time we booked our tickets and May 20th – Iain got a promotion (I believe his official title is now King of the World) and they have moved back to Guelph. So our reunion will have to wait. In the meantime, we are LOVING this city. It could be the return of normal temperatures (26 is my sweet spot), the friendly people, the order of the bike lanes or just the lack of strange smells – we are having a super time. Here are the highlights from Tivol Gardens (after a brief detour provided by the Copenhagen marathon which caused our “quick” bus ride to turn into an hour long walk) – but after some roller coasters and cotton candy, the memories faded and all was good in the world of the gingers.

Family selfie on the “2nd oldest” roller coaster in the world!

We might have overdone it on the cotton candy and it was hard to say goodbye at the end of the day. We returned to our wonderful Air B&B to a quick home cooked meal (yeah) and hit the hay and fell asleep despite the daylight (Copenhagen is very bright all day and evening from May 5 to August 5) – throws off your internal clock a bit but does make the days very full!
Love the bikes here – we’re off on a bike tour tomorrow. Can’t wait!!!

  2. Hi Drew, Hil and adorable Ginger Snaps. Rats. We missed you. My family is on a six day road trip through Denmark. We are leaving this country in two weeks, so we wanted to take a tour before we go. It’s been a fine two years. Copenhagen is a wonderful city. I am sure you saw and stopped at the numerous fantastic parks this city had to offer. They are one of the best features, next to the sensible road system for vehicles and bikes. Yes, Viking in the city is amazing, and the thing I will miss the most. We live on Malmogade, so our park is Østre Ænleg. Slap close by to Fælledparken and Kastellet. Whenever we are missing the world, we visit the Little Mermaid where you will hear at least 10 languages at once. Enjoy your stay in this lovely city and be sure to eat some yummy pastries. Tis’ the season for ice cream, but Danes know how to make pastries. Hej Hej.
