  1. Ruby, I loved your story about surfing!
You looked like a real pro!
You must have practised a whole lot to get so good!
I wonder if you will be able to surf behind the boat?
    Love you tons.

Congratulations on standing up on the board! I’d probably fall off!!

We have a board that we can pull behind the boat and you can try it soon.

    Love you

  3. Excellent job Ruby! You are very brave – I don’t think I could do that. The class got your post card and were very excited to read it! Thank you for writing to us. I can’t wait to see what adventure you write about next. 😀

    1. Ms. Rabah – thanks for your note! Ruby was thrilled to get your response. We are in Paris now and went up the Eiffel Tower yesterday – great views!!! We are coming home soon and wanted to come and say hello to the class. Any chance we could come for a visit on Friday June 23rd in the afternoon – does that work for your schedule. Send me an email to smithhil@gmail.com. Thanks!

  4. Ruby, Ask your Mom & Dad if you can watch Blue Crush…great surfing movie about a girl who crushes the waves…just like you! The journal and photo blog tell the story well! Bravo!

  5. Ruby! Wish I was there with you and your family trying to ride a wave. I love the photos and your writing. I must show my Ruby, Maggie and Bobby.
I am impressed you remembered the instructions, and I like how you seemed to hint throughout your piece that hard work and never giving up is essential.
Way to go Ruby, you are a fine example for all of us!!
I have tried surfing in New Zealand an Hawaii. I was successful, but not right away. Lots of attempts eventually equalled success.
