Cheddar Gorge

We spent last week on a sheep farm. It was us, the wind and the rain, and 4000 sheep (including lambs). More stories to follow about the joys of last week. For me the highlight was the day hike into the Cheddar Gorge.

The English Countryside is crisscrossed with numerous footpaths that transect private and common land, pass through valleys and run alongside streams. Walking them is a pretty gorgeous way to travel around and while you don’t get anywhere fast, you are plenty – old quarries, wildflowers, and loads of birds. Our hike into the Cheddar Gorge included a delicious picnic, the close inspection of dry stone walls and a very pleasant nap in our sheep farmer’s field. We slept on the grass and used hummocks (which we theorized were old cow turds) as pillows. It was awesome.

  1. Looks fun guys. Scenery reminds me of images from a novel set in England around the Victorian era.
Food looked yummy too, boy could I go for bread, meat and cheese!
