3 Ginger Snaps

A friend sent Drew this pictures today to demonstrate how old her computer is – this was 6 years ago. I love this picture.

Arden is about 10 hours old in this photo. The girls had just arrived at the hospital with YaYa to meet their little sister. Char got right down to business holding the baby and Ruby started her own investigations….their personalities evident even at this young age. This is the original “Gingersnap” picture. If they ever record an album, it can be their cover art.

The Snaps are settling into their new lives in Burlington. The transition to school has gone remarkably well despite some pre-school nerves and the worries that 8 months away from school will make it even harder to start again. Turns out, you only need a day or two to get right back into the swing of things.

And suddenly we find ourselves in the daily grind – biking home quickly, grabbing a snack so we can rush out the door to gymnastics, karate, swim, etc (mild tantrum on route, some yelling by me). I find myself wondering if the trip had any lasting impact? I am longing for the days of our travels when our agenda was only to eat at some point and see what we see. What I know for sure is I feel closer to my children and Drew and I guess in terms of a travel take-away, I couldn’t ask for any more. And yet I find myself asking…am I the same person now as I was pre-travel?

I am the woman who gave birth to those 3 amazing (and loud) human beings who are (mostly) proud to call themselves sisters.
