Jays tickets were half price for kids under 14 on Saturday afternoon and RA Dickey was pitching and ever since reading his book I’ve wanted to go see him. Despite the fact that he got smoked, we had a pretty good time. I cracked open a lot of peanuts, answered a lot of questions about…… Continue reading Toronto v Minnesota.

Near perfect moment.
The moments where you feel that you have achieved something as a parent can often seem few and far between. That said, when you read all three of them stories, put the almost two year old down to bed in her own room, come back in to close the deal with the almost 4 and…… Continue reading Near perfect moment.
Band aids
Some time ago, years in fact, Hil decided that, when it came to band aids, it just wasn’t worth the fight. I am not so liberal with these sticky little miracles, but maybe I should be. They appear to heal even the most minor of wounds immediately and seem to be extra effective when applied…… Continue reading Band aids
Tape, and what to do with it
It is not uncommon for either of the adults who live in our home to find themselves wandering the premises searching for tape. Often, in these circumstances, any tape will do – whatever we are lucky enough to find – masking, electrical, packing, even the sticky stuff you find on the outside of lint brushes.…… Continue reading Tape, and what to do with it

Grandma’s birthday card
This was interesting and appealed to the child developmentalist in me. Take a close look at the words coming out of the left hand side of the character's mouth and you will notice that they are all carefully written backwards. Why did you do the writing this way – I asked Charlotte – who knows…… Continue reading Grandma’s birthday card
Growth spurt
Ate a large dinner. Then asked if she could make her own lunch to take to school tomorrow. Proceeded to make herself a post dinner peanut butter sandwich and devour it as an after dinner snack. And then a second sandwich. Like dust bunnies and a Hoover. Gone.
And we were afraid she wouldn’t walk
Now she's climbing the tables at the library and quite pleased with herself at being able to do it!
